The province is one of the 17 provinces in Burundi. It is 224.82 km2 (86.80 sq mi) with an elevation of 1,200 m (3,900 ft). The communes that make up Bubanza are Bubanza (capital), Gihanga, Mpanda, Musigati, Rugazi.
Most of the tour operators are located in Bujumbura and most of the safaris will start from Bujumbura.
