Crafts and sourvenirs in Kampala
There are different areas in Kampala where you can buy arts and crafts. You will find a wide range of assortment including hand-made clothing, carvings, and sculptures among others. Some of these are daily or permanent while others work on specific days of the week like the one in Kibuye near Prayer Palace Christian Center (Fridays). Some of the notable markets include craft market on Buganda Road or the slightly larger crafts market behind the national theater. Also on Buganda Rd. across the street from the craft market you find a number of tailors if you are looking to haveclothes sewn.
Uganda Crafts 2000 Ltd is one of Uganda’s oldest fair trade craft shop that has been working with disadvantaged artisans since 1983. It is most known for baskets, but also stock lots of traditional Ugandan products, including musical instruments, jewelry, batiks, carvings, and bark cloth items. Also carry products from Kenya, Rwanda, and the Congo.
